About the Library

The Baksa Polytechnic Library established in the year 2017, is the central knowledge hub of the college. It provides students, faculty, and staff with access to curated print and digital resources that support teaching, learning, and research. The mission of the library is to foster information literacy, promote lifelong learning, and ensure equitable access to information for the entire academic community. The library is especially dedicated to supporting the academic needs of students and teachers by providing essential study materials, previous year question papers, and a quiet environment for focused learning.

Library Services

• Lending / Borrowing: Issue and return of books for registered members.
• Study Spaces: A quiet study environment is available inside the library.
• Previous Year Question Papers: Maintained and organized for students’ preparation and academic reference.
• Journals: Access to subscribed academic and technical journals.
• Reference & Research Help: Assistance with literature searches, citations, and referencing.

Library Timings

Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Closed on 2nd and 4th Saturdays) Sunday & Public Holidays: Closed Note: Any change in schedule or special hours during examinations will be notified in advance.

Library Rules & Code of Conduct

• Carry a valid college/library ID card when using the library.
• Maintain silence in the library; mobile phones must be on silent mode.
• Respect library property and other users. Misconduct may result in suspension of library privileges.
• Personal belongings such as bags must be kept at the designated counter before entering the library.
• Return borrowed items on or before the due date.
• Do not reshelve books; return them to the circulation desk or drop box.
• Report lost or damaged items immediately. Users may be asked to replace or pay for such items.
• Computers and internet facilities should be used strictly for academic purposes.
• Maintain proper decorum inside study spaces; group discussions are allowed only in designated areas.
• Food and beverages are not permitted, except sealed water bottles.

Borrowing Rules

Students: 2 books for 15 days. Teaching Staff: 5 books for 30 days. Other Staff: 3 books for 30 days. Reference books and journals are for library use only and cannot be borrowed.

Fines for Overdue Books

• Rs. 2 per day for the first 5 days after the due date.
• Rs. 5 per day from the 6th day onwards until the book is returned.
• Borrowing privileges may be suspended if fines are not cleared or if books are overdue for more than 30 days.
